HEAL YOUR HEART, LIVE YOUR DREAMS! AND LEARN TO BE PRESENT TO THOSE IN GRIEF

HEAL YOUR HEART, LIVE YOUR DREAMS

AND

GIVE THE GIFT OF YOUR PRESENCE TO SOMEONE IN LOSS:

THE BEST 4 WAYS TO HELP SOMEONE WHO IS SAD

  1. Say this: I do not know what to say or how you feel about this. All I want to say is: ” I am here with you and want to know how this is for you”.

  1. When the griever speaks, Listen in love from the heart. Do not ask questions initially, just listen with eyes bright and mouth closed.

3.Do not tell them that you have experienced this same thing and you know how they feel. DO NOT SAY THIS.

In case you did not hear this last statement, think about how you felt when you were going through loss and someone said this to you.

4.DO NOT SAY THESE THINGS:

*Stay Busy

*Time Heals all wounds

* You will be able to get another: job, partner, dog, cat, or loved one.

DO NOT SAY THESE THINGS MENTIONED IN #s 3 OR 5!!

DO NOT: People say these things to get the one in abject shock and loss to stop feeling their pain. People say these things to get them into their mind, and the reason we say these things is to get the person in front of us to stop feeling their feelings or, or, or, we are at risk of feeling ours.

If you want more information on this topic:  buy the book, THE GRIEF RECOVERY HANDBOOK BY John James and Russell Friedman. Begin by reading the first few chapters and you will know why you should not say these things. If you have any kind of emotional response, call me for Grief counseling.  You will heal your heart, transform your life and then be able to live your dreams.

FINALLY, WHEN YOU ARE AROUND SOMEONE IN GRIEF SAY THIS:

I do not know what to say or how you feel about this. All I want to say is: I am here with you and want to know how this is for you”.
