Learning to Love Yourself Part four of Six.

Please read the previous three blogs to understand the basic ideas presented in this 6 part blog about how we can learn to love ourselves.

Today, we are looking at how to love ourselves by meeting our needs in the Intellectual arena. I am talking today about what scholastic dreams you may have. In this arena, we may look at  possible dreams of further education or taking a class or traveling somewhere to learn more about an area that you have always been drawn to. You may have always wanted to learn more about astrology or astronomy or geology.

Perhaps you did not finish your college degree and if the longing is big to do this, then it might be time to take the next step in finding out how you could do that. Or perhaps there is a “free University” in your city that offers classes on topics that you might like.

Perhaps there is a class you would like to teach at a community college or your church or community center.

I invite you to allow yourself to truly assess what desires you have in this arena. If you know right away but then hear the “inner critic”, saying “Yeah, Right, I can do that when pigs fly”, then hold you inner critic in love, say “thank you for sharing”, and then simply take the next step.

All we ever need do when trying to make any dream come true is to take the next step. Then when we find the courage to take that step, we will soon enough see the next step after than one and so on and so forth.

An example from my life is when I knew I was supposed to apply  to Unity Seminary to become a Unity Minister. Now, when I realized that was what my inner knowing was telling me, I did hear my Inner Critic telling me that there was no way I could do that because I could not even say my name in public without feeling deep fear and embarrassment. However,  my inner knowing was so strong that I took the next step and investigated the application process and after I did that,  I applied. I just kept taking the next step. Even when I was rejected the first time I applied, I did what they suggested I do to be able to be accepted the next time.

I was being guided by my Inner knowing and I also found a couple of close friends who were supportive. Most of my friends joined in the chorus of the Inner Critic and told me what stupid idea that was. I chose to not listen to them and I was able to soar through the application process and I have been  a Unity Minister for nearly 30 years.

When we listen to what our needs are, look to see how to meet these needs and then take the tiniest next step, we automatically place our feet on our own authentic path. When we do this, NOTHING can stand in our way and I mean NOTHING.
