“You have forgotten who you are, Look inside yourself, you are more that what you have become………..Remember who you are…………”
From the movie, The Lion King, as spoken at an ethereal level by the late king, Mufasa, to his son, Simba, who had left the kingdom where he was supposed to be king.
“Their souls speak to us and ask us to look inward and take stock of who we are and what we might become.”
As spoken by President Barack Obama to the people of Hiroshima on May 27, 2016.
If I were to describe my ministry and my counseling and workshop practice in just a short sentence or two, the sentences I have written above would describe my work quite succinctly.
It is the journey of the Hero to remember who they are and to return to the circle of life as the one true authentic self that they have come here to be. Mufasa completed his message to Simba by saying just this: “You must take your place in the circle of life, you are my son, and the one true king”.
It is significant that Mufasa appeared to Simba in the clouds; I like to imagine that we all have one who loves us, one who knows us and who will also guide us to remember who we are and to take our place in the circle of life. I like to think that this one who loves us lives on inside of us forever and is always speaking to us and telling us: “Remember who you are”. President Obama also had the same message when he said: “look inward and take stock of who we are and what we might become.”
Friends as we prepare to celebrate the lives of those who have passed this weekend, I ask the following of you.
First, allow to come to mind an awareness of a loving presence. This presence may be attached to someone whom you knew loved you.
This presence may be attached to a great spiritual leader or teacher.
It may be a 4-legged who was always there for you even when no one else was.
This presence may be attached to a teacher or other friend or relative.
It may be attached to your higher self, a part of you that perhaps helped you survive trauma as a child
This part of you may be attached to a sense of love you only ever experienced in nature as a child.
You would not have lived this long in your life if you had not experienced this type of love.
As you recall this presence, take a moment and breathe into it
Notice where you feel this type of loving presence most in your body
Breathe again to this area of your body and now take a few seconds in the stillness of the silence within you and listen very carefully to what this presence is guiding you to do now, tomorrow and for the rest of this year.
And most importantly
~ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW MUCH YOU ARE LOVED~
