What I would like to say to Kim Davis, Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz:
When asked “which is the great commandment in the law?”, the Greek New Testament reports that Jesus answered, “Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God, The Lord is One; Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind”, before also referring to a second commandment, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” Most Christian denominations consider these two commandments the core of the Christian religion
Kim has stated that Gay marriage is a violation of her Christian faith.
But if we look at what Jesus said in the New Testament we must listen clearly and carefully to what this Master of Human Behavior taught. His message in the New Testament was a message of unconditional love and acceptance.
Thus Davis’ condemnation of anyone is a violation of the faith of most Christians.
Jesus gave these commandments because he knew that people were using the message of the Old Testament to judge and condemn. Jesus knew that in order for humans to live together and take care of one another that we would need to get beyond the judgments of the Old Testament.
So, he brought a message of love and acceptance that would enable people to live together in harmony.
He also taught that as we treat others, we are treating ourselves that way and ultimately the Christ. When he said “in as much as you have done this to the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me”, telling us that we must get beyond any judgment to loving the Christ not only in Jesus but in everyone.
