The Real You shines through!

The other day I received some feedback that perhaps I should change the photo on my webite banner because the picture  of the horse is pretty large and the feedback was :  “What do horses have to do with people coming to see you as a therapist?”.  I gave my web-designer this information.

He said:  “IF PEOPLE DON’T LIKE HORSES, THEY WONT LIKE YOU SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL STICK WITH WHAT IS TRUE(YOUR INNER TRUTH).

I really like this response.  It rang true for me on all levels. My love of the horse and all 4-leggeds does reflect a lot about me.

However,  one of the main reasons I use Equine Assisted Psychotherapy(EAP) as a methodology for helping my clients is that Horses never lie.  So,  working with a horse helps a person uncover what may be standing in the way of the expression of their true self.

It is truly amazing how this works and yet it makes perfect sense when you understand the nature of Equine  Assisted Psychotherapy( see my blog , EQUINE ASSISTED THERAPY MAKES MY SOUL SING DATED 3/29/13   to read more about EAP).

I would also like to give a shout out to my web designer.  It is a blessing to be working with someone who indeed seeks to know my true self.  This is the best way my web-site could reflect who I am.

In closing, in all the work I do with clients, my main goal is to help my client get in touch with their truest and most authentic self. When one does this, they are able to connect with their own gifts, their own insights and understand what their true path is, not what someone else may be telling them is their path.

At this time of year, we celebrate graduations. One of the best gifts a parent could give their child is to support the child’s desires about where they go to college or what major they want to pursue.  So many parents think they know best about their child’s future and they highjack their childs future by telling the child that since they are paying for college, they get to choose or at least heavily influence what direction the child should go in.
If parents could see that this does nothing but cause chaos and confusion, I think they might stop doing this. It is one thing to offer advise to the child but to seek to  control their future only gives the child the message that they are not capable of making decisions about THEIR life. This is NOT the message that we want to give to our children, not now, not ever!
