WHO you are

As we wrestle with trying to understand the most recent events in the news: the unbelievable tragedy in Charleston, the issues around identity, whether it is racial, cultural or sexual identity and more, there is a key to processing this that will make all the difference for you. This key is to connect with your authentic self. This term is gaining more and more recognition all the time. But what is the authentic self and how do we find it?

The truth is your authentic self is as close to you as your breathing and every time you take a slow mindful breath, you are coming close that part of you. Take a moment right now and breathe in a normal breath. Now, breathe a little slower. And now close your eyes for two breaths.

I imagine you feel a tiny bit more relaxed.

In this moment of relaxation, imagine breathing to the very center of your being.

Where in your body, do you sense this center is?

If it had a color, what color would it be?

Breathe to this center and pause there and allow a word to come forward in your consciousness that might describe this center.

Say this word three times.

This little exercise is helping you connect to your authentic self.

I invite you to remember to process all things today from this center of your being.

If you do this, even with the harder things  that defy understanding, you will know what your next step is in understanding or even taking action that is in alignment with your authentic self.
