Why Baltimore is a Spiritual Arena

What would you call a group of 40 pastors gathering together to walk into a group of protestors to bring peace and compassion to their hearts and minds? I would call this a spiritual arena. This is exactly what happened and initially the police saw the large group of 40 pastors coming toward them and the police thought they were coming to create violence. When the group of police encountered the pastors, the pastors knelt down. The policeman in charge of his side of the group, seeing who these brave pastors were, said to them:  “Lead and we will follow”.

When I heard this story, I needed to pull over in my car to calm the tears of JOY I had streaming down my face.

Though, I could word this story to death, I don’t think I need to. I think if you are reading this right now, you know exactly how powerful the lesson is in this story. I will add a metaphysical interpretation to this however. A metaphysical interpretation takes all of the characters in the story and places them into ones own heart and mind and assesses what each group means to them.

For me, the story represents this: There is a part of us that knows how to be calm and still and be in touch with love and compassion. When we harness the power from this part of us and let it bring truth to the part of us that needs to know it is being seen and heard; miracles occur. Certainly a social interpretation is easy to see. However, we must first allow the compassionate part of us to bring peace to our entire being. When we do this, we then can unite with other like minded people and bring peace to the world. This is why Baltimore is a spiritual arena……………..and it is showing those who have “eyes to see and ears to hear”  what they must do to be a peace maker.
